January 2020 is officially over! If you are like most people, you would have set some New Year resolutions, especially since it wasn't just a new year, we embarked on a new decade.
So how did you rate yourself in January on the goals you set out for yourself?
100%!! 60%? or fail?
Congrats if you are on track, kicking butt or exceeding your expectations!
If not, then the question is WHY NOT? Were your New Year resolutions unrealistic? Were you not motivated? No time? Too lazy?
Take a minute to think about why? Perhaps it was the right thing to set as a new year resolution, BUT the honest truth was that you actually didn't want it bad enough.
For example, if your New Year resolution was to work out 4 times a week, you bought your gym membership, but only made it there 4 times in January…
So what was the problem in this scenario? There could be a few reasons.
Not realistic – if you haven’t been going to the gym at all and suddenly you set a goal to go 4 times a week, this would require sheer discipline because you are not in the habit of gymming 4 times/week
No time – too busy at work/home/kids/life…well then let me ask you this. Would you miss a meeting or doctor’s appointment? Likely not because you made time for it in your calendar. It was a priority. Working out seemingly may not have been as much of a priority to you.
Too lazy – possibly, if you tend to find excuses and reasons of why NOT to go
Didn’t want it badly enough – it was a "nice to have" goal, but again it wasn’t a priority amongst your busyness in life
That being said, how do you plan to live out the remaining 11 months of 2020?
Status quo and let the months pass you by as you did in January? OR...set more realistic goals AND make time for it because it’s your priority?
Here’s the SECRET to making it happen:
Put it in your calendar, make time for it!
You are not what you say you are, it’s what you do…and the best way is to make time for it in your calendar. Go get it!
